We are playing Marvel's Midnight Suns and this is part 2 of our playthrough 

Marvel's Midnight Suns is a tactical role-playing game developed by Firaxis Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. It features comic book characters from multiple Marvel Comics properties, such as Midnight Sons, Avengers, X-Men, and Runaways. Players are able to create their own superhero named "The Hunter" with choice of over 40 different powers.

The game was announced at the virtual Gamescom 2021 in August, and was released on December 2, 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will launch at a later date.

While flying to help Mantis recover her memories, Wonder Man reflects on the time that they faced the Defiler!

Wonder Man and Tigra come upon the Defiler attacking two kids and think he is just an ordinary street thug, but they soon find out otherwise

The encounter leaves the Defiler drained and he hurries off to reenergize. Turns out that he is sending people into another dimension to get power and lots of it! The bad part is that the Defiler is having a show that night and plans to send the entire audience into the dimension to increase his power 100 fold!

The Defiler has an energy barrier to stop the West Coast Avengers, but they just go under it to confront the villain! Wonder Man and Tigra are keeping him occupied while Dr Pym and Iron Man figure out how to free everyone from the other dimension. Inside the other dimension, the Defiler feeling weak because of all the people getting pulled out goes after Iron Man only to have Wonder Man take him out

The portal to the other dimension starts to collapse on itself and the Defiler gets knocked into it but one of the teens that was freed. As Wonder Man comes out of his memory of that event, the Quinjet is rocking and losing control (to be continued in West Coast Avengers 39!)

 West Coast Avengers 31 The Friday Night Frights!

The Texas Twister is mad with grief over the loss of his girlfriend Vicki "Shooting" Starr, who turned out to be a demon a while back. And he's teamed up with the Phantom Rider, who seems to be possessed by the spirit of his ancestor, the Night Rider that Mockingbird dropped off a cliff after he raped her. Together, they try to summon a denizen from the spirit world to help them, and it turns out to be Arkon.

Back at the West Coast Avengers compound, Iron Man picks a fight with Moon Knight for making out with Tigra in front of him. Hawkeye asks what that's really about, and Iron Man refuses to open up, but asks Hawkeye to continue to trust him. This is spillover from the Armor Wars storyline in Iron Man, and it continues when Henry Pym comes running with news that the East Coast Avengers are on the line. It turns out that they just found out that Iron Man recently got into a fight with (the former) Captain America.

Before they can follow up on that, though, they are attacked by Arkon, who is mad that Wonder Man appeared in a movie featuring him. Arkon has a nuclear device that he says he'll detonate if the other Avengers interfere in his grudge match. While the rest of the Avengers are enjoying the fight...

...Mockingbird is lured away by Phantom Rider, and they get into their own fight.

Wonder Man eventually convinces Arkon that he'll convince the movie studios to stop making Arkon movies, and Mockingbird gets defeated by the Phantom Rider, but he opts to not kill her yet, and instead leaves her dangling off a cliff. She's able to rescue herself.

Wonder Man is reading his nephews a bed time fable, “The Blind Man and the Elephant” where the moral of the story is, “there are none so blind as those that will not see.”

On the long flight back to the west coast, the Quinjet is attacked by some high tech robots. Wonder Man should have no problems taking care of the robots, but follows procedure and radios it in the West Coast Avengers and realizes there are hundreds of these robots. The West Coast Avengers take off to Wonder Man’s last known position after he goes radio silent. Simon is taken about a ship by an alien race known as the Sligs, a small but mighty race hell-bent on conquest.

Each Avenger must battle the Examiner to analyze their powers and abilities and Wonder Man is first and destroys it without issue

The Examiner is reassembled and Wonder Man is put into stasis and Tigra is the next to be tested. Tigra uses the Examiner’s own strength against and Mockingbird is next. Mockingbird so no problems defeating him so Hawkeye is next, he makes quick work of the Examiner. Iron Man is removed from stasis and is next with the Examiner reaching his power capacity. Iron Man uses an arrow left behind by Hawkeye to magnetize the mighty robot.

Dr. Pym is next and uses his power to shrink the Examiner down to the size of a rabbit and destroys it with a sledge hammer. Moon Knight is the final Avenger to face it and realizes that this dimension that they were taken to for this test is full of moons, thousands of them.

Moon Knight uses the power of those moons to destroy the Examiner one last time, the Sligs ship losing their dimension hopping ability and the Avengers are returned to Earth. The information is sent back to their home where like the blind men from the fable, put together what these Avengers must look like from the data sent back and halt all invasion plans for Earth.

In a warehouse in Los Angeles, Taurus tries to recruit The Shroud as his new Pisces, but for various reasons, Shroud isn't interested. Besides that, the meeting is interrupted by the arrival of Moon Knight, who has been hunting Van Lunt down in vengeance for breaking his vow to the Moon.

As Moon Knight fights and chases Taurus through the streets of Los Angeles, he occasionally hears an encouraging voice in his head purporting to be Khonshu, speaking to him directly for the first time. This has a discomforting effect on Moon Knight, who has been trying to get over his multiple personality disorder and he can't be sure if this is actually the voice of a god or just another new product of his own splintered mind. The fleeing Taurus eventually reaches an airfield and commandeers a small plane, but once it's in the air, the pilot reveals himself as Moon Knight and they begin their final battle.

Moon Knight doesn't expect Taurus to act recklessly while they're precariously flying in a fairly fragile plane, but Taurus is desperate and in his attempts to kill his pursuer at any cost lead the plane to spin out of control and crash. The last thing Taurus sees out the window of the plane is Moon Knight's gliding silhouette against the Full Moon.Though victorious, Moon Knight's cape doesn't allow him to glide for long at such a high altitude. Before he can fall, he's caught from the air by Iron Man, the rest of the Avengers having been informed of his location by Shroud.

The Avengers are mostly livid at Moon Knight for going off on his own and his actions leading to the death of Van Lunt. The issue of breaching the Avengers's no-killing rule leads to Mockingbird sticking up for him. Tigra chimes in that the crueler modern world could stand for a more relaxed approach to that policy, leading to a debate between them and the more hardline older Avengers. They plan to discuss it more at length later, but Moon Knight wonders why Mockingbird of all people would be on his side. As their Quinjet flies away, the spectre of Phantom Rider watches from atop a desert bluff.

West Coast Avengers 28 Double-Crossed!

Van Lunt's predictions lead the Avengers to intercept the LMD Zodiac at the Denver Mint. During the battle, Scorpio finds that he can't consistently control the Zodiac Key, and the battle only ends when the Key suddenly teleports the Zodiac away. With Van Lunt's next prediction, the Avengers quickly catch up to the Zodiac in Death Valley.

It's during the next battle that "Tigra" picks an opportune moment to reveal herself as another infiltrator, which gives the Zodiac the upper hand, at least until the Zodiac Key stops working for Scorpio again because its desire for conflict leads it to sabotage battles that would have a decisive victory.

Scorpio and several Zodiac members are destroyed, but the Key quickly re-animates them. Scorpio soon demands the Key transport them to its home dimension for their final victory. The Key is extremely reluctant, but finally relents. The Avengers and Zodiac warp to the dimension of the Brotherhood of the Ankh, and because the LMD Zodiac take their entire essence from constellations in the Earth dimension, every member of the Zodiac immediately dies. Nearby, the real Hawkeye and Tigra are fighting the Brotherhood of the Ankh.

The Avengers rush in to help their teammates and the Brotherhood regains control of the Zodiac Key. Because this is a dimension where conflict is valued above everything, the Brotherhood suddenly gives up because they're confident that possessing the Key makes them unbeatable and they're not interested if the fighting can't continue indefinitely. They transport the Avengers back to their world with the sinister promise that they'll release the Key back into their world eventually to stir up more precious conflict.

While they were away, they find Van Lunt took the time to escape, which Moon Knight vows vengeance on due to Taurus' broken vow to the Moon. Bobbi tries again to confess her secret to Clint, but can't bring herself to after he says he had too much faith in her to give up while he was stranded in the other world.
