Fantastic Four First Steps Spoiler Filled Review and What's Next | NYSQ Breakdowns

We have seen Fantastic Four First Steps, multiple times, and we have a lot to say about Marvel's first family's first appearance in the MCU so please join us!

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Fantastic Four. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film is directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. It features an ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular team, alongside Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson. In the film, the Fantastic Four must protect their 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world from the planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus (Ineson).

20th Century Fox began work on a new Fantastic Four film following the failure of Fantastic Four (2015). After the studio was acquired by Disney in March 2019, control of the franchise was transferred to Marvel Studios and a new film was announced that July. Jon Watts was set as director in December 2020, but stepped down in April 2022. Shakman replaced him that September when Kaplan and Springer were working on the script. Casting was underway by early 2023, and Friedman joined to rewrite the script in March. The film is differentiated from previous Fantastic Four films by avoiding the team's origin story. Pearson joined to polish the script by mid-February 2024, when the main cast was announced. Filming occurred from July to November 2024 at Pinewood Studios in England, and on location in England and Spain.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025, and be released in the United States on July 25, as the first film in Phase Six of the MCU. A sequel is in development.

Deadpool and Wolverine Spoiler Filled Review and Discussion and SDCC 2024 Recap

We are talking Wolverine and Deadpool and recapping the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic Con so come join us in the discussion.

Deadpool & Wolverine is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters Deadpool and Wolverine, produced by Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). The film is directed by Shawn Levy from a script he wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Reynolds and Hugh Jackman star as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Development on a third Deadpool film began at 20th Century Fox by November 2016, but was placed on hold after the studio was acquired by Disney in March 2019. Control of the character was transferred to Marvel Studios, which began developing a new film with Reynolds. It integrates Deadpool with the MCU and is intended to retain the R rating of the previous films. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin joined in November 2020 as writers. Reese and Wernick returned from the previous films for rewrites by March 2022, when Levy was hired as director. Jackman decided to reprise his role as Wolverine from Fox's X-Men films in August 2022. Wells, Reynolds, and Levy were confirmed to be contributing to the script by May 2023. Filming began later that month at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional filming in Norfolk and at Bovingdon Film Studios. Production was suspended in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, but resumed that November and wrapped in January 2024. The film's title was revealed a month later.

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.

Today's Lunchtime Reading West Coast Avengers 35 The Voice of Doom

West Coast Avengers 35 The Voice of Doom

Published: August 10th, 1988

Writer: Steve Englehart Penciler: Al Milgrom

Cover Artist: Al Milgrom

Hawkeye and Mockingbird wake up in bed together in the castle of Doctor Doom. The castle is currently occupied by Kristoff, who thinks he's Dr. Doom. Kristoff is looking for allies against Doom. The Hungarian Ministry of Defense has agreed to ally with him if he'll turn over the Avengers, but Kristoff would prefer to have the Avengers as allies.

Hawkeye and Mockingbird will be kept prisoners in the bedroom until midnight while they make a decision. Of the other Avengers, some are held prisoner elsewhere in the castle, and unlike the Communists, Kristoff has come up with power-cancelling devices with a little more individual flair. The Wasp tries her new antennae again… ...but finds that Kristoff has been keeping up with his payments to the exterminator and the castle is bug free. Kristoff shows up and makes the appeal to them as well. Then he goes to where Tigra and Moon Knight are being held. Since they are (relatively) new to the Avengers, Kristoff is not aware of their capabilities, so he puts them to the test in a Danger Room.

Meanwhile, Hawkeye and Mockingbird have it out. For Hawkeye, it's a trust issue; the fact that Mockingbird hadn't told him about it already. The conversation goes downhill from there and the Phantom Rider is certainly enjoying the fight.

Moon Knight eventually gets tired of being tested by Kristoff, so he tells Tigra to keep fighting no matter what happens, and then he lets himself get knocked out. What happens next i guess dispels any doubt over whether the guy in Moon Knight's head was really Khonshu or just another voice in his head. Khonshu faces off against Kristoff. Their fight actually ends when Khonshu addresses Krisfoff as Doom.

Hearing that a god believes he's the real deal is enough to get him to agree to release the Avengers. That decision is furthered when Hungary sends an emissary that turns out to be Quicksilver, who had previously insulted Kristoff when they were both held captive by the Fantastic Four. Kristoff tries to kill Qucksilver, but the Avengers stop them and Kristoff just kicks everyone out.
