NYSQ At the Theater Review Ghostbusters Afterlife

We are at the theater for our spoiler free review of Ghostbusters Afterlife, what do everyone think of the latest in the Ghostbusters franchise?

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a 2021 American supernatural comedy film directed by Jason Reitman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan. The film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd, while Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprise their roles from the original films. It is a sequel to Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) (both directed by Reitman's father Ivan, who serves as producer) and the fourth film overall in the Ghostbusters franchise. Set thirty years after the events of the second film, a single mother and her two children move to a small town in Oklahoma, where they discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and their grandfather's secret legacy.

A third Ghostbusters film had been in various stages of development since Ghostbusters II released in 1989, stalling as Murray refused to commit to the project. After the death of cast member Harold Ramis in 2014, Sony instead produced a female driven reboot directed by Paul Feig and released in 2016. Feig's film was controversial among fans of the original films and was considered a box office failure upon its release, and Jason Reitman began developing a sequel to the original films. The new cast members were announced by July 2019, while the original cast signed on two months later. Filming took place from July to October 2019.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife was screened unannounced on August 23, 2021 during the 2021 CinemaCon event in Las Vegas. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 19, 2021, after being delayed four times from an original July 2020 date, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for its performances, Reitman's direction, and nostalgic tone, but criticism perceiving it as overly reliant on fan service.

Spider-Man No Way Home Trailer Reaction

The final trailer is out for Spider-Man No Way Home and I am about to watch it and give my initial reaction to it!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is intended to be the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. In the film, Parker asks Dr. Stephen Strange to help make his identity as Spider-Man a secret following its public revelation in Far From Home.

A third MCU Spider-Man film was intended as early as 2017, during production on Homecoming. By August 2019, negotiations between Sony and Marvel Studios to alter their deal—in which they produce the Spider-Man films together—ended with Marvel Studios leaving the project; however, a negative fan reaction led to a new deal between the two companies a month later. Watts, McKenna, Sommers, and Holland were set to return at that time. Filming began in October 2020 in New York City, before moving to Atlanta later that month. During filming, Foxx and Molina were revealed to be appearing in the film, reprising characters from past Spider-Man films. The title was revealed in February 2021, before filming wrapped at the end of March.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 17, 2021, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. A fourth Spider-Man film is in development.

The Book of Boba Fett is an upcoming American television series created for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise, a spin-off from the series The Mandalorian featuring the bounty hunter Boba Fett from that series and other Star Wars media. The series takes place alongside the other The Mandalorian spin-off Ahsoka.

Temuera Morrison stars as Boba Fett, with Ming-Na Wen also starring as Fennec Shand. Both reprise their roles from The Mandalorian and other previous Star Wars media. The Book of Boba Fett was officially announced in December 2020, with Morrison and Wen starring. Filming had begun by that point, and lasted until June 2021.
