NYSQ What's Next On WandaVision

The NYSQ Nerds talk about what is next for WandaVision or at least what we think is next!

WandaVision is an upcoming American web television miniseries created for Disney+ . It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The events of the series take place after the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame. The series is produced by Marvel Studios, with Schaeffer serving as head writer and Matt Shakman directing.

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their roles as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively, from the film series. Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park, and Kathryn Hahn also star. By September 2018, Marvel Studios was developing a number of limited series for Disney+, centered on supporting characters from the MCU films such as Maximoff and Vision, with Olsen and Bettany expected to return. Schaeffer was hired in January 2019, the series was officially announced that April, and Shakman joined in August. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2019, before production was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed that July in Los Angeles.

WandaVision is scheduled to premiere in January 15th 2021, and will consist of 9 episodes. It will be the first series in Phase Four of the MCU.

5 Ways that Chris Evans could be Captain America in the MCU again

There is a rumor out there that Chris Evans is negotiating with Marvel Studios to reprise his role as Captain America. We do not know if this is true or not and Chris Evans did post on Twitter that it was news to him

And we have had multiple rumors that were denied that ended up being true (I am looking at you Hailee Steinfeld and Tatiana Maslany) so this is probably all a part of an NDA that was signed by the actor. The rumor got us thinking of how we would like to see Chris Evans back and we have a couple of ideas.

At one point in the comics, the super soldier serum was removed from Steve Rogers and he aged up and could no longer be Captain America, since we have already seen old man Steve in the MCU, he could come back as a mentor to Sam Wilson as Captain America and maybe even lead Shield for a bit since Nick Fury might be working with SWORD for a bit of time.

Captain America could also return as part of Secret Empire, the storyline deals with HYDRA's takeover of the Marvel Universe after Captain America is revealed to be one of their agents ever since the sentient Cosmic Cube Kobik affected his memories. This causes the rest of the superheroes to join forces and rebel against their former leader and friend to prevent the United States from falling under Hydra's control.

Another option is as a Skrull, Secret Invasion was recently announced as a show coming to Disney Plus and this event will probably show up in multiple movies after the show so Chris showing up as Captain America only to find out that he is part of the Skrulls would be pretty awesome.

With all the Multiverse action coming to the MCU, I have a feeling this is all going to lead into Secret Wars. Secret Wars is a 2015 Crisis Crossover in Marvel Comics, by Jonathan Hickman. It is named after the first Secret Wars crossover from 1984, as it shares some plot points with it. The Multiverse is collapsing because of the actions of the Beyonders. Since this has multiple Captain Americas in it (multiple of almost all the heroes) this would be a great way to see Chris Evans back as Captain America.

And finally the version of Rogers that goes back for Peggy likely stuck around kicking ass...I could see that being an excellent entry point for a version of The Invaders in the MCU. I am all for seeing more stories from World War 2. Namor, the original Human Torch, Spitfire, Whizzer and Union Jack could all be working with Captain America against Hydra.
